Noise emanates from a variety of sources typically found in an industrial environment and we humans are considered to be safe if we are subject to noise levels that vary from 0dB and extend till an upper threshold of 70dB.
Additionally, noise can be continuous, exist as a pure tone or even be transient or impulsive in nature. In order to implement an effective noise abatement system, a quantitative acoustical design goal must be established, which may need to adhere to specific regulatory and compliance requirements. Once the design criteria are established, baseline acoustical data is collected in-situ during various production and non-production conditions, and this data is analyzed to determine the best possible approach to achieving noise control.
Noise is unique in the sense that it can travel via many different paths from the source (typically the noise source), to the receiver (typically a plant operator). Such paths are direct line of sight, structure bound, vibration bound, flanking transmission paths, etc. All these paths are addressed in detail during the initial survey that Orion Acoustics will carry out for you. Subsequently, appropriate sound absorbing material in retro-fitted panels will be designed and fabricated, since a combination of materials may be needed depending on the frequency and intensity of the sound source. A comprehensive report detailing the procedures and noise levels obtained before and after the completion of the abatement process is submitted to you.
Acoustic enclosures for noisy machinery like diesel generators, test-bed rigs, compressor units from Orion Acoustic Solutions include features such as robust design, access door(s) to facilitate entry / exit as well as service feasibility are standard. Observation windows, recessed lighting, inlet and outlet ducts and aspiration louvers for machine air ingress are incorporated at the design stage.
Enclosures can be mounted on anti vibration mounts if desired and are tailor made to fit your needs. When multiple generators are installed in a common room, it becomes more feasible and economical to sound proof the room rather than to individually encase each generator. New buildings, remodeled ones, can involve HVAC systems which also generate high noise levels. Noise standards are usually classified according to the whether the area is of a residential type, public use, industrial area etc. with additional noise limits such as day / night being important.
Orion Acoustics will carry out a noise mapping process of the HVAC unit and if typically mounted on a rooftop, simple barrier systems with the right acoustic damping material may confine noise levels to prescribed limits. However, it may also be necessary to install sound attenuators on the intake and discharge outlets of the HVAC system may be an alternate solution.
